Build Better with Design Coordination

Services Provided

01

Concept Rendering

We will work with you to create a conceptual design to make your ideas come to life.

02

Design Coordination

We specialize in coordinating all contractors to make sure the design is actually buildable.

03

Collision Analysis

One of the easiest ways to save time and money during construction is to identify errors in the design with clash detection.

Here is one example of a project where we created renderings in order to convey the concept of the design

Without the renderings, it would have been difficult to get buy-in from all stakeholders. It also gave the members a view into the future to see what they were contributing to.

Design coordination is a forgotten skill in the new construction design world

Since the introduction of digital design tools like Revit, the quality of the actual construction drawings have declined. Therefore it takes an experienced design coordinator to steer the design technicians in a direction that leads to an economically constructible building design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BIM?

BIM Stands for Building Information Modeling, Basically BIM is a method to use modern digital software tools to improve the design and construction process through optimizing communication, coordination, documentation, and speed of information flow.

What is Revit?

Revit is probably the most widely used software to create construction design 3D models and 2D drawings today. The reason is because it is much faster to complete design drawings with Revit that the old way of drawing lines on paper or even lines on digital 2D drawings. However I do feel that this new technology has negatively impacted the actual quality of the designs. In the past, at least from my experience, the designers were normally older construction workers that spent enough time in the field that they knew how components were installed and the most efficient way to build a building. With Revit, there has been a shift to younger Computer Aided Design technicians that have never worked in the field. Also, Revit is programed with preset values which make customizing the design to match the actual components used difficult.

What is collision analysis?

The main reason BIM has grown in recent years is because major construction companies have realized using BIM solves most issues earlier in the design phase. The main method to identify issues with the design is by running collision analysis checks. Identifying those issues early before construction starts saves time and money during construction.

What size projects do we target?

We are a small company with 30 years of experience in the construction world. We are interested to work on small individual drawings or renderings all the way up to complete BIM coordination projects with managing weekly BIM meetings.

When is Laser Scanning used and how much does it cost?

Laser scanning is extremely helpful in renovation projects when existing 3D models or even 2D drawings do not exist. Another application for laser scanning is for controlling the quality of the 3D models after construction. The laser scans can be overlaid with the 3D BIM model to check if they match. The technology used for laser scanning has greatly improved in the past 10 years and the cost is also much cheaper. The cost per square foot starts as low as 5 cents per square foot for large factories and for small houses or businesses can be in the $2,000 to $3,000 range total. Please contact us if you are considering a laser scanning project.
